Best of 2012: Food Photos

Photography was one of my biggest challenges when I started Cook In / Dine Out almost a year ago. It's what distinguishes the best food blogs from the pack and making food look appetizing is important. I'm no professional, but with practice, I'm getting better, and I've certainly learned some tricks in the last 12 months. After combing through my archives, here are the images I'm most proud of:

Fresh basil leaves
Cooking Ginger-Peppercorn Syrup

Roasting tomatoes
Prepping baking sheet for pizza

Squash blossoms
Spice blend for Turkey-Black Bean Chili
Creamy Andalusian Gazpacho

Roasted Beet and Carrot Salad

Blackberry and Cucumber Salad with Fennel Pollen
Heirloom Tomato Panzanella
Shaved Salad with Honey-Smoked Almonds and Lemon Vinaigrette
Asparagus and Snap Pea Pasta

Roasted Pattypan Squash with Basil

Corn Pancake with Blackberry Sauce

Farfalle with Brussels Sprouts and Pancetta

Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Bourbon-Maple Glaze

Southwestern Salmon with Black Eyed Pea Succotash

Carnitas Tacos

Corn Cookies
Apple Pie with Vodka Crust

Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies
L.A.W.M, an Aperol-based cocktail (coming soon)

The J.R. Shot

  1. Great shots! You're doing really well with photography honey.

  2. Thanks! Now that I have a new camera, I think it's going to be even better this year.
